Actuarial Exams, Part One
I recently sat the last two exams of my Part One’s for actuarial accreditation. If I pass, I will only have Part Two and Part Three to go.
Finity Karaoke
We had a Finity social event, which my team won (again). We can donate $500 to our choice of charity. We then went out to karaoke.
The Moth
I went to the Moth, where people get on stage to tell a 5-minute true story about their lives about the theme. This month, the theme was Haunted.
Piketty
I saw Piketty live! He basically covered his (very long) book in a 45 minute talk. It was great, although I still don’t know what the criticisms are.
Hello Fresh
I’ve started using Hello Fresh, which delivers me fresh food and vegetables every week and gives me recipes to cook fresh food. It balances out to about $11 per meal, which is pretty good and I get to learn new (vegetarian) recipes.
What I’ve Been Watching/Reading/Listening (TV edition):
- Bojack the Horseman – A new TV comedy about a talking horse played by Will Arnett. It is very entertaining and very, very compelling as a storyline.
- Transparent (Season Two) – Season Two in one of the best TV shows of the New Tens!
- Rick and Morty – Hilarious and absurd cartoon about a drunk genius scientist grandpa, his son (Morty) and their crazy adventures.
- The Tyranny of Utility (book) – My friend gave me this book, about the dangers of behavioural economics or behavioural-psych-justified paternalism. The book annoyed me because I felt he was strawmanning, but I now realise he was just pointing out the undesireableness of accepting these beliefs without criticism.
